Audi‘s large, three-row Q7 SUV has entered the 2022 model year largely unchanged following its facelift in 2021, apart from a new, petrol-powered SQ7.
As previously reported in February 2022, Audi Australia increased the before on-road asking price for the core Q7 range by between $4000 and $4200 as part of a wider range price increase.
The core Audi Q7 range now starts at $109,100 before on-road costs for the entry-level Q7 45 TDI quattro, and extends to $128,300 before on-road costs for both the Q7 55 TFSI S line quattro and Q7 50 TDI S line quattro.
Announced in March 2022, Audi has officially switched over from V8 TDI diesel to V8 TFSI petrol power for its high-performance SQ7 model.
It’s priced from $164,400 before on-road costs. An Audi spokesperson has confirmed that the first examples of the SQ7 TFSI have arrived on Australian soil.
The SQ7 TFSI is now powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that produces 373kW of power and 770Nm of torque.
That’s 53kW more but 130Nm less than the previous 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 diesel engine, while the 0-100km/h time has been reduced by 0.7 seconds.
The engine is a detuned version of the RSQ8’s powertrain, shared with other models including the RS6, RS7, Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus, though without the RSQ8’s 48V mild-hybrid technology.
The SQ7 TFSI also has a twin under-the-skin in the form of the SQ8 TFSI, which according to an Audi spokesperson is set to arrive “within the next few weeks”.
Within the Q7 range, there are still a few features that are currently unavailable due to semiconductor and component shortages. Audi recommends to consult your local dealer to get the most up-to-date information.
These temporarily missing features include matrix LED headlights, electric steering column adjustment, an electric luggage compartment cover, and a wireless phone charger.
