When the episode aired in December, the former spouses had just finished renovating the three-bedroom, 3.5-bath residence at a cost of $482,500.
It was “the most we’ve ever spent by far,” El Moussa claimed.
They’d purchased the property in May 2020 for $1.4 million, among the highest prices they’d ever paid for a fixer-upper.
Ambitious sales strategy
If they had sold the place for the price discussed in the episode ($2,699,000), they would have made a profit of $706,500.
It would be “the most we’ve ever made,” El Moussa said at the time.
Public records show the home was listed on May 12 for $2,999,900. Six days later, the price was raised by $500,000, which means El Moussa and Hall are swinging for a million-dollar profit.
It’s an ambitious sales strategy. That said, the current price of $1,549 per square foot is right in line with the median price of $1,800 per square foot in Corona Del Mar. The townhome is also located across from a park and just minutes from the beach, in one of Orange County‘s most sought-after areas.
Someone thinks it’s worth the price, because the home is now pending sale.
Major renovations make sense
What exactly did El Moussa and Hall do to more than double the value of this 2,260-square-foot townhouse, which shares a wall with a neighboring unit?
MORE FROM REALTOR:
Lavish upgrades are apparent from the sidewalk out front. The old brick patio was replaced with a modern white courtyard featuring a fire pit, glass railings, and sleek planters.
Glass sliders were added to the front of the house, both upstairs and down. A balcony above was also a clever addition.
The interiors were gutted, and the old, awkward layout was replaced with a wide-open living space. Wide-plank wood flooring runs throughout the home.
The kitchen was repositioned. It now sports dark, flat-panel cabinets, bright-white brick walls, a large island, and high-end appliances.
All the bedrooms were remodeled as well, and the en suite bathrooms were decked out with new vanities, fixtures, and countertops. Custom-tiled showers were also added.
Although there is no yard to speak of, there is that sweet front porch. There’s also a deck off the family room area that features custom cabinetry, a wet bar, and a wine fridge.
There’s also a deck off the primary bedroom, perfect for morning coffee or a yoga session.
“This house has, like, that coastal hangout vibe that makes you never want to leave,” remarked Hall as they surveyed the finished and staged home.
