Raise a toast: from vintage-inspired champagne coupes to stylish coloured tumblers, the best glassware for the festive season

The festive season is in full swing, bringing with it long festive lunches, drinks parties and extravagant evening suppers.

One of the best ways to elevate each occasion and delight your guests is to keep the drinks flowing all night in beautiful glassware.

You also need to ensure you don’t spend all night topping up drinks so you have time to enjoy the party yourself.

Rebecca Henchey, buyer for Sainsbury’s Home, reveals how to take the pressure off so you can enjoy the gathering too.

“Create a flexible at-home drinks station with a tray that you can circulate, ready to entertain friends and family – alongside the mixology essentials, it’s great to have small bowls of colourful garnishes such as mint, pomegranate seeds and grapefruit slices to complete festive concoctions.”

Coloured glass

Investing in coloured glass is a great way to update your glassware.

Shades of black will go with all colour schemes. Pair the black glass wine glasses from Maisons Du Monde (above), with white crockery to add contrast to your table. They are priced at £48 for a set of six.

The straight lines on Soho Home’s much-loved crystal glasses are inspired by the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City. They were originally designed for the Dumbo branch of the member’s club, with its interiors harking back to the Sixties and Seventies.
