This Earth Day, VERANDA invites design enthusiasts, students, and seasoned design professionals to join us for our second annual Design U. virtual summit exploring “The Future of Eco-conscious Living.”

The summit will feature two hours of dynamic discussions about how the design industry can help lead the way toward a more sustainable future, with appearances from David Carey, senior vice president of public affairs and communications at Hearst, and Cassie Flynn, strategic advisor on climate change at the United Nations Development Programme. You can register to attend the summit here.

First up: a conversation on how preservation is a solution for better eco-conscious living with Brent Leggs, senior vice president and executive director of the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund; CT Nguyen, chair of preservation design at the Savannah College of Art and Design; and Nakita Reed, associate architect at Quinn Evans, moderated by VERANDA Editor in Chief Steele Marcoux.

We also encourage you to tune in to conversations hosted by our sister titles ELLE DECOR and House Beautiful, which have also partnered with leading design universities around the country, including Parsons School of Design, the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning, and USC Roski School of Art and Design.

The mission behind Design U. is to empower and inspire the next generation (and beyond) of diverse, rising design talent with access to the education, innovation, and leading experts it needs to succeed.

Design U. is a partnership not only among the various brands in the Hearst Design Collection but also with leading brands in the design industry. We’d like to thank our 2022 sponsors—Beko, , and First Republic—for their generous support. We’re also grateful to our supporting partners: 1 Hotels, Oscar Massin, Piana Technology, and Tencel.
